   Welcome

Welcome to Stepping Stones (Orchardhill Sunday School) which caters for all children aged 3 - 12 years old. 

Stepping Stones meet during the family service every Sunday morning during term time.

The children join with the congregation in the church at 9.45am for the children's talk, and then leave with the leaders for their classes. The children then return to the church at the end of their classes.

We have classes for pre-school & primary school age children:

Smartie Gang - Age 3 - 5: Meets in the Session Room.

All Stars - Primary 1 & 2: Meets in the Church Halls.

Hotshots - Primary 3, 4 & 5: Meets in the main hall in the Memorial Halls.

Super Stars - Primary 6 & 7: Meets in the end room in the Memorial Halls.
 

   Teaching

A= Age Appropriate     B= Bible based     C= Christ Centered

We are committed to providing the children with a safe, secure environment in which they can listen and learn.

We seek to introduce them to Jesus through the Bible, through prayer & through friendships.

We want to see them to grow in their faith and have a heart for Service & Mission.

We are involved in various activities like singing, games, Bible stories, baking, mini-cinema, crafts, drawing, reading, fund raising, talks, work sheets, drama, discussions, playing, etc.

The children celebrate Christmas with an all-age nativity play. We also have special services or teaching at Harvest Thanksgiving and, of course, at Easter. There are also other opportunities for the children to show their parents what they have been doing and learning.

Sometimes the children gather together for an all age session, such as games, crafts or singing. We also join with the organisations for Youth services on various occasions throughout the year.

The children's collections are gathered together each year and  the money is donated to children's charities both locally and abroad.

This year the children raised over £600 have been able to support The Children's Trust of Songea, a charity who help AIDs orphans in Tanzania with their eductaion and health care. http://www.childrenofsongea.org.uk

 Programme

Our term runs the same as the school terms and children move up to their new classes each August. However children are welcome to join a class at any stage in the year. The children are also encouraged to bring friends and family to join them at any time.

We regularly have events or parties for the children at Christmas and at the end of the summer term we have Prize Giving and the Summer Outing.

Our term starts back this year on Sunday the 23rd August 2009 and we look forward to seeing you then.

 Prayer

We meet togther monthly in the Memorial Halls for a Breakfast Prayer Meeting. We pray togther for the children, the leaders, the wider church community and the world. All who have a heart for the stepping stones ministry are encouraged to come along and join with us - there is no pressure to pray out loud and many members of the group just sit quietly.
