Junior Section

First for P4 - P6
Boys in Giffnock

Meet in the Memorial Halls
School Day Fridays at 6.30pm

A warm welcome to you on reaching the home of the 86th Glasgow Boys' Brigade Company which is based in the Giffnock area of Glasgow in South West Scotland.

Known locally simply as the 86th BB we are proud to provide Boys in our area with the opportunity of developing into fine young men through a wide and varied programme comprising, fun, games, crafts and badge work.

Anchor Boys are usually in P1- P3 in Primary School,  Junior Section P4 - P6, Company Section P7 - S3 and Seniors S4 - S6.  Boys progress through the company and can join the relevant section at any time.

Boys are awarded badges in all sections depending on their achievements; they can progress towards The President's Badge in S5 and the highest award, The Queen's Badge in S6.

The object of the Boys' Brigade was set by Sir William Smith, the founder, in 1883

"The advancement of Christ's Kingdom among Boys and the promotion of habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-respect and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness."

It's as relevant today as it was then and a standard by which we encourage all Boys to achieve.

We currently have around 9 Anchor Boys, 4 Junior Section Boys and 16 Company Boys who meet during the school term from late August through to early May.

We are always delighted to welcome new members so come along and see why the Adventure begins here at the 86th. If you are a parent or adult who would like to help we would be delighted to hear from you.

Each section meets once a week - 'a fun night for all' - that includes elements of our award programmes Body, Mind, Spirit, Community and Creativity for the younger boys and Community, Recreation and Skills for the older boys.

All sections take part in District and Battalion events and competitions throughout the year.

If you are having a gloomy boring Friday Night and are a Boy in this age range living in Giffnock why not come along and see why the adventure begins at the 86th. Don't miss out - come along now and see for yourself!

Further BB pages for each of the sections and all other information about the 86th BB are located in pages that can be accessed by registered site users.  If you want to access these pages simply register from the home page and you will receive by email a log on name and password which you can use to access the rest of the site.

The closed area of the site provides secure access to pages, forums and blogs which allows peace of mind knowing that all data is available only  to those who have  registered.  We hope you will visit the closed part of the site and look forward to seeing you log on.

We operate an e-shop where you can support the 86th BB at www.buy.at/orchardhill where you can visit many of the leading high street stores and Insurance companies that support us.  Your purchase will be charged at the normal rate on the company’s web site and our sponsors (the suppliers) return a small percentage to us.

Remember, any site you visit through our link will get you the same price that you would pay if you went direct to the suppliers site but by clicking though our link here we will get a donation from the supplier.  You can see when you shop how much is being donated to the 86th BB.  For example, the purchase of a car insurance policy or a connection to Sky can attract up to a £70 donation for the 86th BB funds.

We urgently need assistance from parents and friends to help with badge work preparation, Parade Nights and other events. Please remember that as an adult you can contribute back some of the help you received as a child and ensure that the Boys' of the 86th are given the very best opportunity to develop into fine young men.

We are a registered charity no SC032298
