Baptism Christening

"We would love to welcome your family into our church family by baptising / christening your child. We believe that God welcomes all children and baptism is an important step"

Baptisms occur on the first Sunday of each month as part of the 10:30am morning service.

We conduct baptisms for both children and adults. Family and friends are invited to be a part of this significant church occasion.

We ask that you remain for the whole service as both an act of appreciation and affirmation that the congregation on this day pauses to make special recognition of your child. Photographs in the church are permitted at the time of the baptism. Thereafter we observe a formality until the end of the service.

Can we have godparents?
Yes you can. It is your choice whether or not you have godparents.

How long does the service take?
The service lasts approximately an hour. The baptism is at the start of the service. After the baptismal part of the service we strongly encourage all children to attend the crèche, Stepping Stones (Sunday school) (age 3 to 12), or Bridges (high school children). Alternatively you can request that the baptism be undertaken at the end of the service when the children return from Stepping Stones etc.

Children in the crèche, Stepping Stones or Bridges are cared for by experienced leaders who have undertaken disclosure checks.

Do we leave after the baptism?
We ask that you stay for the whole service on this special day.

Do you have child care facilities?
Yes we do! After the baptismal part of the service we strongly encourage all children to attend the crèche, Stepping Stones (age 3-12), or Bridges (high school children). Children in the crèche, Stepping Stones or Bridges are cared for by experienced and qualified carers. Parents can be assured that every care is taken with the children.

You are asked to leave your children in the crèche or Stepping Stones and they will rejoin you towards the end of the church service.

Do we receive a certificate?
Yes, your baptised child will receive a certificate to signify this special day.

How do I book a baptism?
Please contact the church office on (0141) 638 3604 to book a time to see the minister to arrange a date to discuss this important event.
