Prayer Points for Summer 2008

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. …..We love because He first loved us.

Continue to pray for the team now in South Africa. As well as the points mentioned in the June news, remember especially family members back in Scotland and pray for peace of heart and mind for them.

Summer Mission. Our holiday club will be running as usual in August. Pray for the team as they prepare for this  - that everything will be ready in time, all the necessary ‘props’ will have been gathered together, there will be sufficient helpers and that lots of children and young people will turn up. Pray that the teaching they receive will stay with them and influence their thinking. Pray too for the parents. For some of them, this may be the only contact they have with church so pray that many of them will come to the final service.

Stepping Stones. The new session will start at the end of the holidays. Pray for the children who will be moving on a ‘step’, and for their teachers. Pray too for families in the community who have young children (three year olds!) who might join the Smartie gang and pray for contact with them.

Many of us will be on holiday over the next two months. Pray for refreshment, for the churches that we will visit and for people who may visit our church.

First impressions are important. Remember those who take on the responsibility of welcoming people at the door and pray for more to undertake this vital role.

We will be holding another Ministry Fair in September. Ask for God’s guidance in showing each one of us ways in which we can serve Him.

And finally……. pray for the troubled world we live in with its inequalities, exploitation of the weak and poor, injustice, strife, famine, disease  ……. Pray for Aid workers who try to bring relief often at great risk to themselves.

Remember the people of Zimbabwe as it descends into ever increasing chaos and anarchy.
