One disaster overtakes another. Pray for the people of Chile, those who have lost their homes, their loved one and their livelihoods. Pray that help will reach those who need it most. Continue to pray for the people of Haiti, many of whom are still without proper shelter and where rebuilding communities and broken lives will be a long, difficult and costly process. Pray that we will reflect on our comparative prosperity and security and be generous in our support of those who have lost so much.
On 1st April, a small group of church leaders will meet outside Westminster Abbey to lay a wreath in memory of those who have been martyred for their Christian faith over the past year. As we approach Easter and remember the suffering of Christ, His arrest, trial and unjust sentence of death, pray for those who share in these sufferings today. We take our Christian freedom for granted. For thousands, it is a daily walk with danger.
Applicants for the post of Youth Worker have now been interviewed. Pray that the successful candidate will be able to start in that post as soon as possible..
Pray for the representatives of the Giffnock churches as they meet with Presbytery to discuss the future of the ministry in this area.
Pray for our new elders as they get to grips with new responsibilities. Pray that they will bring wisdom and renewed vision to the Kirk Session and to the church and pray for those appointed to districts, that they will quickly form good relationships.
David Howard our treasurer is retiring soon. Give thanks for his wise and careful oversight of our resources and his meticulous care in keeping the books in good order! Pray that the right person will be found to take over this role.
Pray for that the Bereavement Support Group will draw members from all the different Giffnock churches and that in time it will prove a real benefit to our community.
Pray (by name if you can) for those in our own fellowship who have recently been bereaved or who are going through hard times for one reason or another.
One day soon (we hope!) we will be told the date of the next General election. Pray that the run up to this will not be marred by point scoring, personal attacks on reputations, manipulation by the media and all the shady on goings that we so often see. Pray that we will have candidates of integrity, who have a genuine concern for the good of the country and its people.
Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue only, but with actions and in truth. We love because he first loved us.
